Adani Group resolving its legal issues in the United States could help accelerate India’s nuclear energy ambitions, according to Dr Kris Singh, Founder and CEO of US-based Holtec International.
In an interview with IANS, Singh said the settlement would allow the Adani Group to participate more actively in India’s expanding nuclear energy programme.
“I’m glad to see that it’s been settled. So, the Adani Group can participate in the nuclear programme that had just opened up,” he said.
Singh described the Adani Group as a major infrastructure player capable of contributing significantly to India’s nuclear sector. He said the conglomerate’s experience in building ports and large infrastructure projects positions it well for future nuclear development.
Dr Kris Singh also stressed the growing importance of nuclear energy for India’s industrial expansion and long-term energy security.
According to Singh, renewable energy alone cannot meet the country’s rising power demand.
While acknowledging India’s progress in solar energy, Dr Kris Singh noted that solar and wind systems face challenges related to battery life, storage and grid stability.
Singh said nuclear energy provides stable, round-the-clock power and remains essential for industrial economies. He strongly backed Small Modular Reactors in India, saying they could decentralise power generation and reduce dependence on costly transmission networks.
Singh also said Holtec International is in talks with Indian authorities on future nuclear cooperation and called for greater foreign investment in India’s nuclear sector.
Originally from Bihar, Dr Kris Singh founded Holtec International in 1986, which has grown into a global nuclear and clean energy company.
