Adani Power Limited’s 1,600 MW power plant in Mirzapur district, Uttar Pradesh, has emerged as a major catalyst for development, raising hopes of economic revival in a region long affected by unemployment and migration.
The project, located in Dadri Khurd village of Sadar tehsil, marks a significant step towards strengthening the state’s energy infrastructure.
Following approval from the regulatory commission for the project’s Power Supply Agreement, Uttar Pradesh will receive 1,500 MW of electricity from the Adani Group for 25 years at an approved tariff of ₹5.38 per unit.
This clearance paves the way for long-term access to affordable and reliable power for the state.
The project is expected to generate employment for around 8,000 to 9,000 people during the construction phase.
Once operational, it will provide nearly 2,000 permanent jobs, offering much-needed livelihood opportunities for local residents and contributing to the regional economy.
The Uttar Pradesh government has already approved the project, which will use ultra-supercritical technology.
This advanced method ensures higher efficiency in power generation while reducing environmental impact compared to conventional thermal plants.
Beyond infrastructure, the project reflects Adani Group’s commitment to social responsibility.
Under the Adani Foundation, initiatives such as the Vision Care Programme have benefited over 23,000 schoolchildren, women, and elderly residents by addressing visual health issues in the region.
For local communities, the Mirzapur power plant represents more than an industrial project. It symbolises employment, social development, and self-reliance—truly emerging as a ‘power plant of hope’ guiding the region from uncertainty towards sustainable growth.
