Jaipur International Airport, managed by Adani Airport Holdings Limited, has been certified as water-positive. This marks a significant environmental milestone for both the state and the wider aviation sector in India.
The recognition, granted by Bureau Veritas, follows a detailed audit of the airport’s water conservation and resource management systems. The certification confirms that the airport now replenishes and recycles more water than it consumes.
Data for the April 2025 to March 2026 period shows the facility used just over 1,03,000 kilolitres of water, while returning more than 1,37,000 kilolitres through recycling and groundwater recharge measures. This surplus establishes its water-positive credentials.
The development underscores Adani Group’s broader sustainability agenda, particularly in infrastructure operations located in environmentally sensitive regions.
Jaipur, which faces ongoing water scarcity challenges, requires a targeted and efficient approach to water use.
Key interventions at the airport include a fully integrated water recycling system, reduced dependence on fresh water sources, and the installation of 18 deep recharge structures designed to improve groundwater levels through rainwater harvesting.
A spokesperson for the airport stated that the certification reflects a structured strategy built on three core elements:
- Complete reuse of treated water,
- Disciplined consumption practices, and
- Strengthened rainwater capture systems
Jaipur International Airport remains the busiest in Rajasthan, handling over six million passengers in the last financial year and managing close to 120 aircraft movements each day. Spread across 776 acres, the facility also operates with a strong digital infrastructure focus.
In addition to its water achievement, the airport has secured Zero Waste to Landfill certification from the CII-ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development. It has also received Level 3 accreditation from Airports Council International. This accreditation was awarded in May 2025.
The latest recognition further reinforces the Adani Group’s positioning of its airport portfolio as a platform for sustainability-led infrastructure development.
