The Adani Group, in collaboration with the US-based Centre for Excellence in Education (CEE), hosted the valedictory ceremony of the Research Science Initiative (RSI)-India 2026 at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru.
The six-week programme provided exceptional secondary school students with advanced research opportunities under the mentorship of IISc faculty, reinforcing its mission to nurture India’s future scientific talent.
Participating student Shiv Mandlik described RSI-India 2026 as a unique platform that allowed talented high school students from across India to undertake world-class scientific research without any financial burden. He thanked the Adani Group for making the programme fully funded and said it provided an immersive academic experience that many deserving students would otherwise not have the opportunity to access.
Student Tanishq said the initiative enabled participants to work alongside IISc professors while interacting with fellow students who shared a passion for science and innovation. He added that the programme blended rigorous academic learning with an enjoyable and collaborative campus environment.
Another participant, Pradyun, called RSI-India one of the most demanding research programmes he had attended. He said the initiative combined intensive scientific research with extracurricular activities, including visits to science galleries, creating a well-rounded learning experience.
Professor Deepak Saini, Faculty Convener of RSI-India, said the programme focuses on high school students because this is the stage when many young people decide their career paths. He noted that while engineering and medicine remain popular choices, India also requires a much larger pool of researchers in pure sciences to drive innovation and scientific advancement.
Professor Saini also acknowledged the Adani Group’s contribution, saying its support has been instrumental in helping the initiative achieve its objective of nurturing the next generation of researchers.
