In a significant stride towards reinforcing its dominance in India’s private sector transmission industry, Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) has announced the acquisition of the Khavda Phase-IV Part-A transmission project.

This move is likely to further entrench AESL’s role in advancing India’s renewable energy infrastructure.

Spanning 298 kilometers, the Rs 4,091 crore project is likely to channel an impressive 7 GW of renewable energy from the Khavda Renewable Energy Park into the national power grid.

This development marks a crucial step in facilitating the flow of green energy across the country.

Secured through a rigorous tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process, AESL has committed to completing the project within the next 24 months.

The company will also maintain the infrastructure for a period of 35 years, ensuring long-term stability and efficiency.

Strategic Investment For India’s Green Energy Future; Says AESL CEO

Kandarp Patel, CEO of AESL, emphasized the strategic importance of this project.

He stated, “Khavda, being the world’s largest renewable energy park, requires power evacuation systems that are both resilient and future-proof. This investment is critical in establishing the necessary transmission network to support the evacuation of the projected 30 GW of green energy from Khavda.”

Patel further highlighted the broader impact of the project, noting its role in enhancing grid stability and contributing to India’s ambitious net-zero targets.

He further asserted, “AESL is honored to contribute to this initiative, which will play a pivotal role in integrating green energy into the national grid, thus accelerating India’s transition to a low-carbon economy.”

Khavda IVA Power Transmission Ltd, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) established by REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL), facilitated the acquisition.

AESL’s receipt of a letter of intent (LOI) from RECPDCL cements its leadership position in India’s energy transition efforts.

With this project, AESL’s portfolio now boasts 21,783 circuit kilometers of transmission lines and 61,686 MVA of transformation capacity.

The Khavda Renewable Energy Park, with its planned 30 GW capacity, stands as a cornerstone in India’s journey towards decarbonization.

The Adani Group remains committed to transforming Khavda from a desolate landscape into a beacon of sustainable energy, reflecting its broader vision of steering India towards a net-zero future.
