Adani Energy Solutions Limited Becomes First Indian Firm To Deliver 1 Crore Smart Meters

Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) on Thursday became the first Indian company to successfully deliver 1 crore electricity smart meters across distribution companies, setting a new benchmark in India’s power sector.

The company expects to deliver the next 1 crore smart meters in the coming financial year, FY27.

As India’s leading Advanced Metering Infrastructure Service Provider (AMISP), AESL has a mandate to install 2.5 crore smart meters across five states.

With an installation pace of around 25,000 meters per day, the company currently leads the industry in deployment speed.

Kandarp Patel, Chief Executive Officer of Adani Energy Solutions Limited, said the milestone reflects the company’s strong execution capabilities and close engagement with utilities and consumers.

He further said smart meters act as catalysts by empowering consumers with real-time usage data, improving grid reliability, reducing losses, and enabling efficient energy management.

The company achieved the 1 crore milestone well ahead of its earlier guidance of March 31, 2026.

Moreover, the development underscores AESL’s commitment to modernising retail electricity distribution and supporting India’s nationwide smart metering programme under the Government of India’s Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).

AESL’s smart meter network provides real-time consumer insights, improves billing transparency, and strengthens utility operations.

The company achieved the highest installation rate through an integrated ecosystem approach, partnering with group firms for smart metering, IoT solutions, local data hosting, and tier-one meter manufacturers for timely delivery.

AESL began its smart metering journey in 2024 and reached the 1 crore mark in about 24 months, making it the fastest rollout in the country.

Under the RDSS initiative, India further aims to replace 25 crore conventional meters with smart meters to modernise its power distribution network.
