Adani Defence & Aerospace announced its acquisition of Air Works, India’s largest private maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) company, for an enterprise value of ₹400 crore. Adani Defence Systems & Technologies Ltd (ADSTL) has signed an agreement to purchase an 85.8% stake in Air Works India (Engineering) Pvt Ltd, according to a company statement.
Air Works specializes in base maintenance for narrow-body, turboprop, and rotary aircraft. Its facilities in Hosur, Mumbai, and Kochi have approvals from over 20 civil aviation authorities worldwide.
Strategic Expansion into Aviation MRO Sector
This acquisition bolsters the Adani Group’s capabilities in defence MRO, enhancing its role in India’s airborne defence ecosystem. Air Works has worked on major defence projects for the Indian Navy and Air Force. It operates in 35 cities and employs over 1,300 personnel.
Air Works provides a comprehensive range of aviation services, including line maintenance, heavy checks, interior refurbishment, avionics, and asset management for Indian and global clients. Jeet Adani, Director of Adani Airports, stated that this aligns with India’s vision to expand aviation connectivity.
Adani Defence & Aerospace CEO Ashish Rajvanshi highlighted the acquisition as pivotal for scaling India’s domestic MRO capabilities. He emphasized Adani’s vision to offer full-spectrum MRO services for both commercial and defence sectors.
