The team to stun every cricket lovers across the globe in the ICC World Cup qualifiers recently held in Zimbabwe is none other than the Netherlands. They will be the only non test playing nation to participate in the ICC world cup to be held in India by outclassing the West Indies and hosts Zimbabwe in the qualifiers.
One would be living in a fool’s paradise if he/she underestimate the Dutch. As, in the T20 World Cup held in Australia last year when it was all certain that fancied South Africa would be sailing into the semi finals and Pakistan would be making an early exit it was the Dutch who upset every calculations by stunning the Proteas.

However, the Netherlands have problems of plenty. Plagued with injuries to star players like Van Der Gugten, Fred Klaasen and Brandon Glover the Dutch have been dealt a severe blow before the first delivery of the World Cup was bowled. The Netherlands only 4 fast bowling options and Glover’s absence is sure to be felt by his team.
Apart from the absence of these troika the team is sure to miss the services of the star batter Tom Cooper. Although the team management has a different tale to tell. According to the team management Cooper was ignored due to his lack of recent international exposure.

The good news is that senior players like Van Der Merwe, Van Meekeren and Ackermann has returned. And the Netherlands think tank has formulating a strategy of developing all rounders who can contribute with both bat and ball in their hands. The result ? Bowlers like Van Beek, Saqib Zulfiqar and Roelof Van Der Merwe can bat a bit making the batting order a tall one. Similarly batters like Vikramjit Singh and Colin Ackermann have developed capabilities of breaking partnerships of the opposing team that looks dangerous.
However the Indian conditions is sure to give the Orange caps sleepless nights as only a handful of those have adapted to the conditions prevailing out here.
