Vande Bharat Express met with an accident and damaged its engine, no functional part was damaged.
The newly launched Mumbai Central-Gandhinagar Vande Bharat Express Thursday morning met with an accident after a herd of buffaloes came on the railway track. The front part of the train engine was damaged, said a railway official.
The accident happened around 11.20 am between Gairatpur and Vatva Railway stationVande Bharat Express train, running between Mumbai Central and Gandhinagar, suffers damages after a collision with a buffalo, on the railway line between the Gairatpur and Vatva station, in Ahmedabad district.
Three-four buffaloes suddenly came on the way of Mumbai-Gandhinagar Vande Bharat, damaging the nose made up of FRP (fiber reinforced plastic), the railway spokesperson said. No functional part of the train was damaged in the accident, the official added.
The railway spokesperson said the train moved just after removing carcasses of the buffaloes and reached Gandhinagar on time. The Railways is trying to counsel nearby villagers not to leave cattle near the track, the spokesperson further added.
The Western Railway (WR) had yesterday reduced the travelling time of the newly-introduced Vande Bharat superfast express train. According to a release issued by the WR, the Vande Bharat Superfast Express would take five minutes less to cover Mumbai Central to Gandhinagar distance and it would arrive 20 minutes early at Mumbai Central from Gandhinagar.
