Modern drone technology with night vision capabilities has been effectively used by the Border Security Force (BSF) in the North Bengal Frontier. The deployment was described as a “ground-breaking development” by the central armed police force in order to prevent the evil plans of transnational criminals.
The BSF frontier announced the achievement in a social media post on X, saying, “In a ground-breaking development that marks a significant milestone, troops of 6 Bn @BSFNBFTR have successfully employed drone technology with night vision capabilities to thwart the nefarious activities of trans-border criminals.”

India and Bangladesh have a porous border that has long served as a hub for illegitimate cross-border activity. Regularly, the BSF soldiers of the North Bengal Frontier bust a cross-border criminal organisation and capture contraband.
Earlier this month, a BSF trooper guarding the Indo-Bangladesh border freed five calves from cross-border smugglers and discovered 1.5 kg of cannabis and other contraband items valued more than 4 lakh. A second narcotics seizure saw observant BSF personnel capture 2 kg of cannabis and other illegal goods meant for smuggling across the Bangladesh-India border.

These drones, which have night vision capabilities, may revolutionise the struggle against transnational criminals, who frequently use the cover of darkness to engage in human trafficking, smuggling, and other illegal acts.
