G20 Summit in Delhi: The G20 Summit is scheduled to take place in Delhi on September 9th and 10th. Preparations for the G20 Summit, a long-anticipated event, have been underway for quite some time. However, just before the G20 Summit, Congress leader Pawan Khera targeted the BJP on the issue of popularity. He shared a photo of an alleged poster, which supposedly showed Prime Minister Modi ahead of other prominent global leaders in popularity. Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera questioned the BJP with a tweet tagging Vijay Goel, raising doubts about the intentions behind the poster.
Pawan Khera’s Tweet
Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera tweeted an image of a hoarding and asked Vijay Goel, “Is this how we welcome our guests?” The hoarding displayed Prime Minister Modi’s popularity among other prominent world leaders. The requesting BJP leader shown in the poster is Vijay Goel. Additionally, the popularity of world leaders is mentioned in percentage terms on the hoarding, with Prime Minister Modi’s graph being the highest.
Vijay Goel Denies the News as Fake
Vijay Goel, while tweeting, stated, “This is fake news. No such hoarding has been put up. At a time when India is hosting the world, Congress should refrain from such cheap politics.”

Shashi Tharoor’s Tweet
Congress leader Shashi Tharoor also shared the image of the hoarding in his tweet and emphasized that someone should explain to them that it should be “Atithi Devo Bhavah” (Guest is God) for Indians rather than promoting a BJP leader. He pointed out that the poster does not depict a big engine with a small one, but rather, it is an insult to our guests.
Amit Malviya Responds to Shashi Tharoor
Amit Malviya, the head of BJP’s IT department, responded to Shashi Tharoor’s tweet, stating, “Your colleague Pawan Khera has been accused of spreading #FakeNews. No such poster was put up. However, it’s not surprising that, on the eve of the G20 Summit, Congress uses an old hoarding image to attack the Modi government. Shameful.”
Both Congress leaders later deleted their tweets.
