BJP Leader Suvendu Adhikari Calls For West Bengal Chief Minister’s Resignation Following Deadly Factory Blast

Suvendu Adhikari, the leader of the Opposition in West Bengal and a prominent BJP figure, has demanded the immediate resignation of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Amid the aftermath of a tragic explosion at a firecracker factory in North 24 Parganas district that claimed the lives of seven individuals, Suvendu Adhikari, the leader of the Opposition in West Bengal and a prominent BJP figure, has demanded the immediate resignation of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

A day subsequent to the explosion, the BJP orchestrated a protest within the West Bengal Assembly, subsequently exiting the proceedings as they demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Within the Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari tabled an adjournment motion pertaining to the explosion, leading to turmoil when the BJP representatives called for a National Investigation Agency (NIA) inquiry into the incident that occurred on Sunday.

Following the walkout, Suvendu Adhikari criticized the state government for its perceived lack of responsibility, highlighting the Chief Minister’s absence from the House during question hour sessions. He underscored, “While the Chief Minister finds time to participate in the Van Mahotsav, the people of the state have been grappling with casualties from such explosions for several years. Over 100 lives have been lost in a short span of time. Our concerns have even been sidelined in the adjournment motion. We demand transparency on the steps taken,” voiced the BJP leader.

Suvendu Adhikari went on to raise suspicions regarding the presence of RDX at the firecracker factory where the explosion transpired. He asserted, “We have reason to believe that RDX was involved at the site of the blast. Beyond just firecrackers, the facility was apparently supplying crude bombs as well,” Adhikari remarked.

Furthermore, Adhikari alleged a connection between the factory blast and the 2021 assault on West Bengal minister Jakir Hossain, suggesting that the crude bombs utilized in the attack were manufactured at the site of the explosion. Insisting on Mamata Banerjee’s resignation, Adhikari stressed the urgency for the state government to promptly issue a statement regarding the explosion.

In a subsequent move, Suvendu Adhikari, accompanied by fellow BJP MLAs, plans to visit the location of the blast in North 24 Parganas district.
