A 19-year-old boy has been apprehended for allegedly attempting to strangle a girl in Maharashtra’s Palghar district after she discarded his attempts to be in a romantic relationship, said an official on Friday.
Aman Madheshiya, the accused, and the girl were friends and students in the same college, Vasai, located on the outskirts of Mumbai. As per the officials, Aman also physically assaulted the girl in college earlier. College management took action against him when he slapped her for rejecting his proposal.
According to an official’s statement referring to the girl’s complaint, it was reported that Madheshiya had visited the girl’s residence when she was alone on Monday. Despite her repeated refusals, he attempted to make advances towards her. Subsequently, the accused forcefully took her to the bathroom, where he tried to strangle her. Following this ordeal, he fled from the scene after snatching her mobile phone.
