Avocados are gradually entering some family kitchens at a time when tomatoes are disappearing from the plates of common citizens as a result of rising prices.
Some Indians appear to have realised that a kilogramme of avocados can be purchased for roughly the same price as a kilogramme of tomatoes as tomato prices have risen while avocado prices have dropped.
Recently, a social media user compared avocados and tomatoes that were bought online. She also shared a screenshot of the price in the article.
The photo was uploaded on social media by user subiii, and captioned it, “It’s just a time in the economy when making avocado toast for breakfast is cheaper than dosa and tomato chutney.”

A single avocado (weighing about 200 grammes) can be purchased for just 59 rupees, while tomatoes go for 222 rupees per kilogramme.
This pricing comparison drew the attention of numerous social media users, many of whom expressed amazement at how inexpensive avocados were.
I’m actually jealous that you get an avocado for around 50 bucks. Cheapest I’ve seen till date.

Meanwhile, wholesale traders predict that the price of tomatoes, which are currently selling for more than 200 per kilogramme, will reach 300 in the near future.
An official statement stated that “over the past few weeks, the people of State and UT have been struggling with an unprecedented escalation in the price of tomatoes, a staple in many households across the state.”
According to the statement, the price increase has been ascribed to a number of causes, including supply chain disruptions, meteorological circumstances, and other market dynamics.
