Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has ruled out the requirement for a special investigation team (SIT) into the recent washroom video incident at a Udupi college. Instead, a Deputy SP-level probe is already underway. The Chief Minister cited National Commission for Women (NCW) member Khushbu Sundar’s findings, stating that no hidden camera was discovered in the washroom. He mentioned that he would refrain from commenting until the investigation is complete, emphasizing the ongoing nature of the Deputy SP-led inquiry.

Addressing the issue of recurring moral policing cases in Dakshina Kannada district, Siddaramaiah asserted that strict actions would be taken against those involved. He highlighted that no one should take the law into their own hands, directing the police department not to show any leniency towards such crimes. Additionally, he stated that those spreading rumours on social media would also face consequences, distinguishing between legitimate criticism and spreading false information.
