Similar events occur in the plot of the Akshay Kumar-starring film “Special 26,” in which a group of 26 thugs commit robberies while pretending to be CBI agents and conduct a phoney house search at a jewelry store.
An incident occurs in Navi Mumbai
In the actual theft in Navi Mumbai, a six-person con crew pretended to be agents of the Anti-Corruption Bureau and searched the residence of a public works department officer who had recently retired. The six guys broke into Kantilal Yadav’s home on July 21, according to the criminal complaint filed by the retired official. The person in charge, a bearded man, claimed they were from the Anti-Corruption Bureau, that a complaint had been made against Yadav, and that they had come to search his home.
Yadav and his wife were forced to sit next to the man while the man searched the house while seizing their smartphones. Yadav’s wife was instructed to deliver the cabinet keys. The bearded man refused to reveal his identity, indicating that it would not be revealed until the search was complete, despite Yadav’s repeated requests.
