2 Daily Wage Labourers Killed in Northeast Delhi

Unidentified assailants allegedly shot and killed two daily wage labourers, Pradeep and Bablu.

Unidentified assailants allegedly shot and killed two daily wage labourers, Pradeep and Bablu, in the early hours of Tuesday in the Welcome area of northeast Delhi. The victims both aged 40 years, as reported by the police.

Police received information about the incident around 2:15 am. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Joy Tirkey, Pradeep’s body was found on the main 65 Futa road, Pili Mitti in the Welcome area. He had sustained two gunshot wounds to his stomach and lower abdomen. Pradeep, a daily wage labourer, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two empty 9-mm shells were discovered near the body.

Shortly after, Bablu’s body was found near a lane in Subhash Park, with two gunshot injuries to his chest and lower abdomen. Bablu, who had a record as a “bad character” at the Bhajanpura police station, had 13 cases of snatching and theft registered against him. He also worked as a daily wage labourer. Similar to Pradeep’s case, two empty 9-mm shells were found near Bablu’s body.

“The distance between the bodies was about 300 metres. It has been found that both Pradeep and Bablu knew each other and were probably together when the incident took place. It seems that Bablu was shot first in the lane, followed by Pradeep, who was shot on the main road,” explained the DCP.

Both victims were taken to Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital, where they were declared “brought dead” by medical personnel. The police have registered a case of murder and formed multiple teams to investigate the incident.
