Jalebi Or Tamil Alphabet? Internet Puzzled Over Thread Logo’s Inspiration

Elon Musk’s Twitter has threatened to file a lawsuit, claiming that Threads breaches its “intellectual property rights,” Meta’s new programme has already attracted over 30 million users in just one day.

Threads was formally introduced by Meta on Thursday. The new social media platform is available to take on Twitter, owned by billionaire Elon Musk. People can connect on social media to talk about whatever “they care about today to what will be trending tomorrow”. In the midst of all of this, numerous internet users have noted how strikingly similar the app’s logo is to the Dravidian languages Tamil and Malayalam.

It was allegedly modelled after the Tamil letter “Ku,” according to a number of users, while Malayalam letters “Thr” and “Kra,” according to others. On the internet, nevertheless, several users claimed that it also symbolised the Hindu sound “Om.”

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that the new Threads app’s logo looks like the Malayalam letter (pronounced “thra”) that rhymes with “thr” in Threads rotated 90 degrees clockwise?

Another person commented, “The Threads logo looks eerily like Kra in Malayalam.”

Someone remarked, “How has no one commented on the Threads logo’s similarity to the letter ‘Om’.”

surprisingly, a few Twitter users also remarked on how much the app’s logo resembled the Indian treat jalebi.

“At the moment, people are opening the Threads app as they are enjoying breakfast with jalebis. identical amount of energy. Is it just us, or does the Threads logo appear to be an ear?,” someone else said.

 One user said, “I feel like eating jalebis every time I look at the Threads logo.”

The CEO of Meta has received a letter from Mr. Musk’s attorney, Alex Spiro, accusing him of “illegally misappropriating Twitter’s trade secrets and other intellectual property.”
