Pawan Sehrawat and co. quell the Iranian challenge to retain the Asian Kabaddi Championship
The Indian team won all five of its group-stage matches, finishing first in the group and earning a position in the championship game at the event held in Busan, South Korea.
Pawan Sehrawat, the Indians’ captain, was essential to their success.
When the skilled raider was purchased for Rs 2.26 crore at the auction last season, he had already broken the record for the most expensive player in Pro Kabaddi. His campaign for the Tamil Thalaivas, however, ended after only 10 minutes due to a severe knee injury that necessitated surgery.
His initial competition following his recovery was the Asian Championship. He also stood out in the championship game, scoring a critical 13 points for the Indians, which were followed by Aslam Inamdar’s eight raid points.

PKL played a major role in emerging players for India
The Indians, all of whom play significant roles for their various PKL teams, eventually prevailed despite some fierce Iranian resistance. The Indians performed far better in the championship game compared to how difficult it was for them to defeat Iran 33-28 in the group stage.
However, India won the continental championship for the eighth time with their victory on Friday.
