Bharat Prasad Singh (BP Singh)
The flamboyant UP cadre 1964 batch IPS officer Bharat Prasad Singh (BP Singh) passed away on Monday afternoon in Bengaluru at 83. His last rites are being carried out in Bengaluru right now. Bharat Prasad Singh was the father of Rakesh Singh who is a senior IAS officer from the Karnataka cadre, class of 1989.
Bharat Prasad Singh, a native of the Bihar district of Munger, is recognized for his fearless and exceptional policing.
He served as SSP for important Uttar Pradesh districts like Varanasi, Agra, and Aligarh.
BP Singh also served as Gorakhpur’s DIG for almost 7 years, and his work there is still highly regarded.
Later, he was appointed DG PAC, DG Railways, and IG of the Allahabad Zone.
According to reports from the correspondent, BP Singh received praise and credit for ending all dacoits in the Uttar Pradesh region of Chambal.

He is survived by his two sons, Mukesh Singh and Rakesh Singh, and a daughter.
Rakesh Singh is a senior IAS officer from the Karnataka cadre, class of 1989.
