On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked veteran BJP leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani’s 99th birthday by sharing a detailed article on his life, political career and contribution to the country as he entered his 100th year.
In a post on X, PM Modi extended his greetings to Advani and said his article reflected on the senior leader’s lasting influence on India’s political and organisational history.
“Today, 8th November, is a landmark day. Respected L.K. Advani Ji enters his hundredth year. On this special occasion, my greetings to him,” the Prime Minister wrote.
PM Modi said his article traced Advani’s journey from experiencing the hardships of Partition and rebuilding his life to strengthening the Jana Sangh and establishing the BJP. He further recalled the veteran leader’s opposition to the Emergency, his leadership of the Somnath-to-Ayodhya Rath Yatra and his responsibilities in government.
The Prime Minister highlighted aspects of Advani’s personality beyond politics, including his passion for reading, interest in culture and cinema, and achievements as a writer.

I’ve written an article in which I’ve highlighted his everlasting contribution to India.
I have recalled his journey, be it experiencing the horrors of Partition and rebuilding life from scratch, strengthening the Jana Sangh and building the BJP, standing up for democracy during the Emergency, leading the Somnath to Ayodhya Rath Yatra or serving the nation in government.
Have also written about other aspects of Advani Ji – the voracious reader, his love for culture and cinema, a prolific writer and more.
