Amit Shah Dares Rahul Gandhi To Debate Electoral Fraud Claims In Special Parliament Session

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday invited Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to participate in a special session of Parliament to address allegations of ‘vote chori’.

He maintained that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had no objection to an extensive debate on the matter.

Speaking at a meeting of the newly formed Uttar Pradesh BJP Executive Committee in Lucknow, Shah said the Central government could convene a special parliamentary session to examine accusations of electoral malpractice and concerns surrounding the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.

“I am ready to call a special session of Parliament to discuss vote chori. But Rahul baba will never agree. He will never discuss the issue in Parliament but will create a nuisance on the street,” the Home Minister said.

Shah also urged Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav to bring their complaints against the Election Commission before Parliament instead of raising them outside the legislature.

“The allegations against the Election Commission are baseless. They (Opposition) don’t want a discussion; they want drama on the streets,” he alleged.

SIR Dispute Fuels BJP-Opposition Confrontation

The Home Minister’s comments came as the BJP and Opposition parties continued to clash over the electoral roll revision exercise and accusations of voter list manipulation.

The INDIA bloc has outlined several protest plans, including an impeachment-style event against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and a large gathering at Delhi’s Ramlila Ground.

Opposition parties have described their campaign as a protest against the alleged ‘demolition of democracy’.

They contend that the SIR exercise could provide an electoral advantage to the BJP, keeping the Election Commission and the ruling party under sustained political scrutiny.

Using a cricket analogy, Shah accused Congress and Samajwadi Party leaders of questioning election authorities after suffering defeats rather than improving their own political organisations.

“After losing the match, they are blaming the umpire and alleging vote theft,” he said.
