Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Bharat Parv 2026 at Ekta Nagar in Gujarat’s Narmada district on Friday, launching a cultural festival that showcases India’s traditions, folk performances, regional cuisines, handicrafts, and tourist attractions.
The festival, organised as part of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations, will continue until November 15.
Its theme, ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’, encourages states and Union Territories to showcase their cultural identities and tourism offerings.
PM Modi is also scheduled to witness Ekta Prakash Parv, an illumination festival celebrating India’s unity, heritage and progress.
The displays include a 530-metre illuminated stretch along Valley of Flowers Road, themed ‘From Ancient India to Modern India’, and a 180-metre Glow Tunnel featuring regional cultures, architecture, folk dances and handicrafts.
Artists from across India have created installations using more than 1.5 crore LED lights.
The Prime Minister will also attend the Narmada Aarti at the upgraded Shoolpaneshwar Narmada Ghat, redeveloped at a cost of ₹15.10 crore.
On Saturday, October 31, PM Modi will pay floral tributes at the Statue of Unity to mark Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 151st birth anniversary.
He will then inaugurate 23 projects worth ₹307.83 crore and lay foundation stones for eight projects worth ₹118.88 crore.
The projects include an IRCTC hotel, Ekta Cruise, a Rain Forest attraction, an eco trail, water treatment facilities, travelators, and improved visitor amenities.
Proposed developments include a smart waste-management project, Khalwani Eco-Tourism and an integrated Cactus and Butterfly Garden.
The celebrations will feature the Ekta Parade, security-force contingents and cultural performances themed ‘Vande Mataram’.
A National School of Drama presentation on ‘Naxal Mukt Bharat’ will involve around 2,000 artists from 126 districts affected by Left-Wing Extremism. Another cultural presentation will bring together approximately 5,000 artists from across India.
