Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 2.62-km ‘Trail of United India’ forest eco-trail at Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, on October 31. The inauguration will coincide with Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, observed annually to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The Statue of Unity Area Development and Tourism Governance Authority (SoUADTGA) has developed the attraction in Limdi village.
The project combines nature-based tourism with exhibits celebrating India’s cultural diversity, heritage and spiritual traditions.
The eco-trail features five thematic zones dedicated to wildlife and nature, youth, women’s empowerment, heritage and spirituality.
Exhibits and artistic sculptures will highlight India’s biodiversity, social progress and cultural traditions.
Surrounded by green forests, the trail will offer visitors opportunities for walking, trekking, wildlife observation and environmental learning. It aims to promote awareness of biodiversity and encourage conservation.
The authority has developed several facilities along the route. These include an entrance, parking area, ticket booth, information centre, multi-purpose gazebo and bio-toilets.
Visitors will also find drinking water points, a bamboo watchtower, directional signboards, stone seating areas and trail maps. These amenities will help visitors navigate the route and explore its attractions.
The new attraction will expand tourism options around the Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue.
The landmark has attracted more than three crore visitors since its inauguration.
The eco-trail is expected to encourage tourists to extend their stays in Ekta Nagar and explore nearby destinations around the Sardar Sarovar area. It may also generate local employment and support livelihoods through tourism-related activities.
By combining nature, heritage and national unity, the ‘Trail of United India’ will add another attraction to Gujarat’s growing tourism landscape.
