Delhi Metro Closes 6 Stations Till 4 PM As INDIA Bloc Plans March To Supreme Court

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has suspended entry and exit facilities at six metro stations in central Delhi until 4 pm on Monday, October 12, citing security concerns ahead of the Congress-led INDIA bloc’s proposed protest march towards the Supreme Court.

In a post on X, the DMRC said the restrictions came into effect at 6 am and would remain in place until 4 pm. Security agencies will review the situation and issue further updates if necessary. However, interchange facilities will remain available at all six affected stations.

The restrictions follow the temporary closure of 45 metro stations two days earlier in view of a protest organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP).

Meanwhile, the Delhi Traffic Police have issued an extensive advisory warning commuters of possible congestion and diversions across the national capital.

Heightened security and overnight rain could disrupt Delhi-NCR traffic during the morning rush. Police have identified around 30 locations for possible restrictions and diversions, including Dhaula Kuan, Jhandewalan, Mandi House, Connaught Place, Patel Chowk, Lodhi Road, Bhikaji Cama Place, Moti Bagh, Jantar Mantar Road and Rail Bhawan.

The traffic police urged motorists to avoid affected areas, follow diversion signs and obey traffic personnel.

The INDIA bloc’s proposed march comes amid protests over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and demands for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s removal.

Ahead of the march, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi alleged on X that police personnel and BJP workers assaulted young people during a peaceful protest in Delhi on Sunday. He condemned the alleged violence, saying it did not reflect the India the country wanted.
