Metro Railway, Kolkata, will operate overnight services on the Blue and Green Lines during the main days of Durga Puja to make pandal-hopping easier for revellers and improve connectivity between popular puja destinations.
The night-long services will run on Maha Saptami on October 17, Maha Ashtami on October 18 and Maha Navami on October 19.
On Maha Panchami and Maha Sasthi, the Blue and Green Lines will operate from 6 AM to 11 PM.
The Blue Line, connecting Garia and Dakshineswar, will run 284 services on October 15 and 16, with trains operating at six-minute intervals during peak hours.
The Green Line between Howrah Maidan and Salt Lake Sector V will operate 240 services on both days.
From October 17 to 19, the Blue Line will operate 248 services from 1 pm until 4 AM the following morning. The Green Line will run 192 services from 01:30 PM until 03:59 AM.
The Yellow Line will operate from 07:18 AM to 09:20 PM on October 15 and 16, before running from 3 PM to 10:53 PM during the following three days.
The Purple Line will run from 06:40 AM to 09:26 PM on October 15 and 16 and from 3 PM to 10:55 PM on October 17-19.
The Orange Line will operate from 07:40 AM to 08:45 PM on October 15 and 16, with no service during the following four days.
Metro Railway has advised passengers to use smart cards or book tickets through the AAMAR KOLKATA METRO app to avoid queues.
Commuters have been asked not to overcrowd trains or block doors and to wait for the next service when necessary.
Authorities have scheduled additional weekend services ahead of Puja to support shoppers and manage increased passenger demand.
