Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed gratitude to the people for choosing him to serve the country for 25 consecutive years, saying their trust had given him the greatest responsibility towards the nation.
PM Modi received a warm welcome as he arrived at the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha, with people showering flowers, waving BJP flags and chanting ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and ‘Modi ji ka swagat hai’.
Addressing the gathering, PM Modi recalled taking the oath as Gujarat Chief Minister on October 7, 2001, saying he had never imagined reaching the milestone of 25 years as head of a government. He described the journey as a reflection of the continued blessings and trust of the people.
The Prime Minister thanked the BJP, NDA and political colleagues for their faith in democracy. He also bowed to the people and paid tribute to India’s democratic system and Constitution.
PM Modi thanked Seva Jyoti Yatra participants and said he prayed at Delhi’s Shri Vinayak Mandir for the nation’s happiness, prosperity and good health.
Calling the people his greatest source of strength, PM Modi said their trust, along with the hard work of party workers, had supported his journey in public life. He said the country had given him much and, therefore, his responsibility towards it was equally great.
PM Modi completed 25 years as head of government on October 7, beginning as Gujarat Chief Minister in 2001. He became Prime Minister in 2014 and has since completed three terms.
His tenure has also coincided with India’s growing global engagement, stronger ties with major powers and a more prominent role in the Global South.
