Naman Dhir made an immediate impact on his T20I debut, taking 3/31 as India bowled out West Indies for 171 in the opening match at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium.
Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav claimed two wickets each as India repeatedly struck during the West Indies innings.
West Indies captain Shai Hope launched the innings aggressively before India hit back during the powerplay.
Kamil Pooran fell for 12, while Shimron Hetmyer and Rovman Powell departed soon after to leave the visitors at 44/3.
Hope then combined with Sherfane Rutherford to rebuild the innings. The pair added 63 runs before Dhir removed Hope for 52, with Axar Patel taking the catch at deep midwicket.
Hope completed his 13th T20I fifty from 36 deliveries before his dismissal.
Kuldeep struck twice in successive overs, dismissing Roston Chase and Matthew Forde. Ishan Kishan held an excellent catch to remove Forde.
Dhir then dismissed Romario Shepherd and Shamar Springer as West Indies slipped from 114/4 to 125/8.
Rutherford kept the visitors competitive with a 31-ball fifty, his seventh in T20Is, but Mayank Yadav ended his innings on 56. Axar claimed another wicket as India completed the innings at 171 all out in 19.1 overs.
