External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar arrived in Ghana on Tuesday for an official visit aimed at strengthening India’s comprehensive partnership with the West African nation.
Jaishankar said he looked forward to productive discussions with Ghanaian officials. Ghana’s Foreign Ministry also said the visit would help both countries renew their long-standing ties based on solidarity and shared values.
During his October 6-7 visit, India and Ghana will discuss cooperation in several key areas.
The talks will focus on pharmaceutical development, agricultural mechanisation, value addition, industrialisation, job creation, scholarships and information technology partnerships.
Jaishankar will next travel to Côte d’Ivoire and Ethiopia as part of his five-day African tour from October 6 to 10.
He will meet senior leaders and his counterparts in all three countries to review bilateral relations and explore new areas of cooperation.
The discussions will cover trade, economic cooperation, development assistance, capacity building and people-to-people ties.
The ministers will also exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.
In Addis Ababa, Jaishankar will chair the Regional Heads of Mission Conference.
The Ministry of External Affairs said the visit reflects India’s commitment to deepening its partnership with Africa and strengthening solidarity with the Global South.
