Swiss President Guy Parmelin will visit Noida International Airport in Jewar on Tuesday during his three-day state visit to India from October 5 to 7.
Authorities have tightened security across Greater Noida and along Parmelin’s route from Delhi ahead of his visit. Police have deployed additional personnel at sensitive locations, major junctions and key intersections.
Traffic police will manage vehicle movement, while authorities have restricted heavy vehicles on parts of the route.
Parmelin is expected to reach the airport around 11.30 am and spend about two to two-and-a-half hours there. He will tour the terminal and business facilities, including the cargo terminal, and interact with airport officials.
The visit follows Parmelin’s meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi on Monday.
India and Switzerland discussed trade, investment, infrastructure, research and other areas of bilateral cooperation during the meetings.
Parmelin is travelling with a high-level delegation of business and academic representatives. His visit also coincides with the first anniversary of the India-European Free Trade Association (EFTA) Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) coming into force.
Noida International Airport has a direct Swiss connection. Yamuna International Airport Pvt Ltd, which operates the airport, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG.
Parmelin’s visit is expected to highlight opportunities for deeper cooperation between India and Switzerland in aviation, infrastructure and technology.
The airport’s passenger and cargo facilities will remain a key focus of his tour.
The visit comes as Noida International Airport moves towards becoming a major aviation hub for the National Capital Region, with its development expected to strengthen connectivity, trade and investment opportunities.
