‘Drishyam 3’ Creates Box Office Havoc, Crosses ₹100 Crore

Ajay Devgn’s ‘Drishyam 3’ has started its theatrical journey on a high note. The much-awaited thriller, which released on October 2, has attracted large crowds and delivered an impressive performance at the box office within its first two days.

The film opened with ₹62 crore net in India on day one, giving Ajay Devgn the biggest opening of his career.

It then maintained the same pace on its second day, earning around ₹53 crore net, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. With this, the film’s two-day domestic net collection has reached ₹115.50 crore, while its domestic gross stands at ₹138.65 crore.

The strong response is not limited to India. ‘Drishyam 3’ has also found an audience in overseas markets. The film earned around ₹20 crore internationally on day two, taking its total overseas collection to approximately ₹38.50 crore. Its worldwide gross has now crossed the ₹177 crore mark.

The film has also secured the position of the second-biggest opener of the year so far. ‘Dhurandhar 2’ continues to lead the list.

Ajay Devgn returns as Vijay Salgaonkar, the character at the centre of the franchise. Tabu and Shriya Saran have also reprised their roles, while Rajat Kapoor, Ishita Dutta, Mrinal Jadhav and Kamlesh Sawant return to the cast. Jaideep Ahlawat and Prakash Raj have joined the latest chapter in new roles.

Abhishek Pathak has directed the film and co-written the story with Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parvez Sheikh. The new instalment takes the franchise beyond the storyline followed by the first two Hindi films. Instead of adapting the Malayalam series, the makers have created a fresh narrative that moves Vijay Salgaonkar’s story towards its own conclusion.
