Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated wrestler Antim Panghal and India’s women’s golf team after they won silver medals at the Asian Games 2026, praising their strong performances and determination.
PM Modi hailed Antim Panghal for winning silver in the women’s 53kg freestyle wrestling category.
He described her performance as exemplary and wished her continued success while encouraging her to inspire other athletes.
Antim became the only Indian woman wrestler to win a medal at the Asian Games, upgrading her bronze from the Hangzhou Games to silver in Aichi-Nagoya. She lost 1-9 to Japan’s Moe Kiyooka, the 2024 world champion in the 55kg category, in the final.

PM Modi also congratulated Aditi Ashok, Pranavi Sharath Urs and Diksha Dagar for securing a historic silver in the women’s team golf event. Their medal marked the first-ever Asian Games medal for an Indian women’s golf team.
Pranavi further strengthened India’s historic campaign by winning gold in the individual stroke play event. She carded an even-par 70 in the final round to finish on 15-under 265 at Kasugai Country Club East Course.

Pranavi also played a key role in the team’s silver-medal finish, with India recording 14-under 546 over four rounds.
Aditi finished 14th in the individual event after shooting a three-under 67 in the final round to end on 2-over 282. Diksha finished joint 23rd after carding a seven-over 79 on the final day.
PM Modi praised the athletes’ achievements, saying their performances reflected their determination and passion for sport. He wished them continued success and said their efforts would inspire more Indian athletes to aim for greater heights.
