Putin Praises PM Modi’s ‘Very Good Ideas’ To End Ukraine Conflict, Backs India’s Peace Efforts

Russian President Vladimir Putin has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s continued efforts to help end the Ukraine conflict, saying PM Modi regularly raises the issue during their meetings and has offered ‘very good ideas’ for finding a mutually acceptable solution.

Speaking at the Valdai Discussion Club in Moscow, Putin said PM Modi remains interested in ending the conflict. He said this despite the close and friendly relationship between India and Russia.

Putin said the Indian Prime Minister consistently discusses the Ukraine war during their meetings. He added that PM Modi supports efforts to achieve a peaceful resolution.

Putin also thanked PM Modi for his commitment to ending the conflict peacefully and as quickly as possible. He said Modi’s proposals focus on finding solutions acceptable to the parties involved.

India has repeatedly called for dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the Ukraine conflict.

During his August 31 meeting with Putin, PM Modi reiterated India’s support for peace efforts and said the world must move from an ‘endless war’ towards an end to the conflict.

Reuters reported that PM Modi also stressed that India would support efforts to stop the fighting.

PM Modi and Putin met again in New Delhi on September 11 on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit. During their meeting, Modi reiterated that dialogue and diplomacy provide the path towards resolving conflicts.

He also said India remained ready to assist peace efforts. The leaders discussed regional and international issues, including developments in West Asia and the Black Sea region.

More recently, PM Modi again discussed Ukraine with Putin by telephone and reiterated India’s call for dialogue and diplomacy.

The two leaders also agreed to remain in contact while continuing efforts to strengthen India-Russia relations.

Putin’s latest comments underline Russia’s acknowledgement of PM Modi’s repeated calls for dialogue and peaceful efforts to resolve the Ukraine conflict.
