Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S27 series could become more expensive if rising memory-chip costs continue to put pressure on smartphone production.

According to a Reuters report published on October 1, Samsung has already increased prices for its Galaxy S26 flagship models in South Korea, citing higher memory costs.

The development comes as growing demand from artificial intelligence companies pushes up prices for advanced memory used in data centres.

Market research firm TrendForce expects conventional DRAM contract prices to increase by 10–15% quarter-on-quarter in the fourth quarter of 2026.

NAND Flash prices could rise by another 15–20% during the same period.

Memory makers are allocating more production capacity to server components and high-bandwidth memory (HBM), which is widely used in AI systems.

Samsung has said HBM could represent nearly 30% of global DRAM wafer capacity next year, compared with around 20% currently.

The shift could reduce the availability of mobile DRAM for smartphone manufacturers while increasing component costs.

TrendForce has warned that higher mobile DRAM prices and declining inventories of cheaper memory are already affecting smartphone production.

Reports have suggested that Samsung may raise Galaxy S27 prices, particularly for models with larger storage capacities.

The company has not yet officially unveiled the Galaxy S27 range or confirmed its specifications and pricing for India.

Any price increase therefore remains unconfirmed. If memory costs remain high, smartphone manufacturers could pass some of the additional expense to consumers or modify storage options to manage production costs.
