Delhi is likely to experience dry weather through the coming week, with bright sunshine keeping daytime temperatures warm and a slight drop expected in night temperatures.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast clear skies and ruled out rain in the national capital during the period.
Northwesterly winds have increased dryness across Delhi, while bright sunshine prevailed over most areas on Wednesday.
The maximum temperature at the Safdarjung observatory reached 34.2 degrees Celsius, 0.5 degrees below normal, while the minimum temperature stood at 22.4 degrees Celsius.
The IMD said the southwest monsoon season ended with a 13 per cent rainfall deficit. As the monsoon continues to withdraw, several parts of southern and northeastern India are likely to receive rain.
The weather agency has forecast isolated heavy rainfall over Kerala, South Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
Kerala, coastal Karnataka and southern Karnataka may receive rain at several places, while Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Lakshadweep could see rainfall at a few locations.
Karnataka recorded a wet spell during the 24 hours ending at 8.30 AM on Wednesday. Kibbanahalli in Tumakuru district received 10 cm of rain, the highest recorded by the IMD during the period.
The IMD forecast thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds in parts of southern India and the Northeast. It also expects further monsoon withdrawal from Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh over the next two to three days.
The withdrawal may also advance across Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra.
Meanwhile, Delhi’s AQI remained moderate, with IIT Delhi recording 249, Jahangirpuri 207 and CRRI Mathura Road 198.
