PM Modi, Trump Review Key Areas To Advance India-US Strategic Partnership

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with US President Donald Trump over the phone on Wednesday.

The leaders reviewed progress in India-US cooperation across trade, defence, energy and critical technologies. They discussed other areas of mutual interest as well. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to advance the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.

PM Modi described the conversation as productive. He said both sides agreed to maintain close engagement.

The leaders exchanged views on regional and international developments. They placed emphasis on efforts to promote global peace and security.

The latest conversation adds to sustained high-level engagement between New Delhi and Washington.

Prime Minister Modi and Trump had earlier met on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Evian in June 2026.

During that meeting, they reviewed progress in defence, strategic technologies, energy and bilateral trade. They had welcomed developments in negotiations for an interim Bilateral Trade Agreement.

The latest contact underlines continued engagement between the two governments. It comes as India seeks stronger market access in the US while both sides pursue shared interests in stability and strategic cooperation.
