Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated Indian shooter Esha Singh on winning the silver medal in the women’s 25m pistol individual event at the Asian Games 2026.
In a post on X, Shah praised Singh’s ability to perform under intense pressure and said her achievement had made people back home proud.
“Kudos to Esha Singh on winning the Silver Medal in the Women’s 25m Pistol Individual event at the #AsianGames2026. Your steely resolve to perform under gruelling pressure makes this victory special for everyone back home. Keep surging ahead with more victories,” Shah wrote.

Singh claimed the silver medal after a closely contested final in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. She finished the regular competition level on 38 points with China’s Xiao Jiaruixian.
Xiao eventually secured gold after a further shoot-off, while Singh took silver. North Korea’s Kim Hyon Suk won bronze with 34 points.
The Indian shooter kept her medal hopes alive through a tense sequence of rounds and shoot-offs. Her performance added another medal to India’s campaign at the continental sporting event.
Shah’s message highlighted Singh’s determination and ability to remain composed in a high-pressure competition. His congratulatory note also wished the shooter further success in future events.
Singh’s silver came in the individual 25m pistol competition, a precision event that tests competitors’ accuracy and consistency. The result marked a significant achievement for the Indian shooting contingent at the 2026 Games.
India’s athletes are competing across several disciplines at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, with shooting among the events contributing to the country’s medal tally.
