Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to revolutionary freedom fighter Shaheed Bhagat Singh on his birth anniversary, recalling his courage, sacrifice and commitment to India’s freedom struggle.
In a post on X, PM Modi said Bhagat Singh’s courage and sacrifice strengthened the freedom movement. He described his willingness to give everything for the nation as a symbol of courage and resolve for India’s youth.
In a video message, Modi called Bhagat Singh an inspirational figure for every Indian, particularly young people. He highlighted the revolutionary’s fearlessness and determination.

PM Modi recalled Bhagat Singh’s response before his execution, when he asked the British to shoot him and his fellow revolutionaries instead of hanging them. The Prime Minister said this reflected Bhagat Singh’s exceptional courage and determination.
PM Modi also highlighted Bhagat Singh’s concern for ordinary people and their suffering. He said the revolutionary remained sensitive to people’s difficulties and helped those around him.
Bhagat Singh was born on September 28, 1907, and became a prominent figure in India’s anti-colonial struggle. He joined revolutionary activities at a young age and played an influential role in the freedom movement.
The British government executed Bhagat Singh on March 23, 1931, when he was 23. His sacrifice and role in the independence movement have made him a widely remembered figure in India’s history.
Through his tribute, Modi recalled Bhagat Singh’s courage, sacrifice and dedication to the nation, particularly highlighting his example for young Indians.
