President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Kevadia, Gujarat, on Monday for a three-day visit covering cinema, higher education and spiritual initiatives.
Murmu arrived at Vadodara Airport, where Governor Acharya Devvrat, Minister of State Praful Pansheriya, Mayor Geeta Makwana, Police Commissioner Narsimha Komar, Major General Mohit Gandhi and Collector Dr Anil Dhameliya received her.
The President then left for Kevadia in Narmada district, around 90 km from Vadodara. She will attend the presentation ceremony of the 72nd National Film Awards at Ekta Nagar on Tuesday.
The President’s Secretariat said the ceremony will recognise personalities for their contributions to Indian cinema.
Murmu will return to Vadodara on September 23 to attend the 75th annual convocation of Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. She will confer degrees on graduating students during the ceremony.
On the same day, the President will launch the Brahma Kumaris’ campaign, ‘Spiritual Awakening for World Renewal’, and inaugurate the ‘Global Spiritual Palace’ Retreat Centre in Vadodara.
She will virtually launch another Brahma Kumaris initiative in Nadiad titled ‘Youth for Viksit Bharat: Awakening Inner Strength for Nation Building’.
The September 21–23 Gujarat visit forms part of Murmu’s scheduled engagements across the state. Her itinerary includes the National Film Awards at Ekta Nagar, followed by university and spiritual programmes in and around Vadodara.
