Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed grief over the death of Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, brother of Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
PM Modi honoured his contribution to society and conveyed condolences to the Royal family and people of Dubai.
In a post on X, PM Modi said, “Deeply saddened by the passing of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. His efforts to serve society will be cherished by generations to come. I convey heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family and the people of Dubai. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”

The Dubai Ruler’s Court announced that Sheikh Ahmed died on Monday morning at the age of 76. Dubai has declared 10 days of official mourning. Flags will remain at half-mast during the mourning period.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum paid a personal tribute to his late brother.
Sheikh Ahmed was the fourth and youngest son of former Dubai ruler Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum. He served as Deputy Chairman of Dubai Police and Public Security, Group Chairman of A R M Holding and President of Al Wasl Sports Club.
After graduating from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, he joined Dubai’s Central Military Base. He later became its Commander in Chief.
In the early 1990s, Sheikh Ahmed established Jebel Ali racecourse to promote horse racing in the UAE. He served as Al Wasl Sports Club president for 60 years.
