India targets a strong Asian Games medal haul on September 20, with Quimcy chasing two medals and cricket, shooting and hockey in action.

India’s medal campaign at the Asian Games 2026 enters another crucial phase on Sunday, September 20. The continental event officially begins on Saturday.

The Indian contingent has competed since Thursday and remains in medal contention. Teqball has grabbed early attention, with Quimcy Joaquim Dsouza and Mohd Anas Imran Beg chasing medals.

Quimcy and Anas will contest the mixed doubles bronze medal match. They face Vietnam’s Gia Nghi Trinh and Hoang Minh Tan Nguyen. The Indian pair lost to them in the quarter-finals.

Quimcy will then compete in the women’s singles bronze medal match against Japan’s Yuina Sakamoto.

India’s women’s cricket team will face Bangladesh in the second semi-final of the T20 event. The team will seek to retain the gold medal won at the 2023 Games.

Shooting will feature India’s Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Uttam Maskar and Vidarsa K Vinod in the women’s 10m air rifle qualification and team final.

India’s hockey campaign begins with both teams in action. The women face Uzbekistan in Pool B, while the men meet Indonesia in Pool A.

Table tennis features India against Indonesia in both women’s and men’s team events. The women later face Singapore, while the men meet Iran. India’s women’s badminton team will face Kazakhstan in the first round.

Wushu begins with the men’s Changquan final. Aparna and Vikrant Baliyan will compete in their respective 1/8 finals.
