The BCCI has announced the WPL 2027 dates, with the fifth season set to be played from January 14 to February 7.

WPL 2027 Schedule Announced: Season To Open On January 14, Auction In Kochi

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has finalised the schedule for the fifth WPL, with the 2027 edition set to run from January 14 to February 7.

The confirmation gives all five franchises a clear timeline to complete their squad planning ahead of the new campaign.

The franchises must submit their player retention decisions by September 28.

Each team will use the retention window to determine which members of its current squad will remain for the forthcoming season and which positions may require fresh recruitment.

The BCCI will conduct the WPL Player Auction on October 28 at the Grand Hyatt Kochi.

The franchises will enter the auction with their retention lists already finalised and will look to strengthen their squads by filling remaining gaps across different departments.

The upcoming competition will continue with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Giants and UP Warriorz.

The five franchises will once again compete for the title while providing a platform for leading international players and promising Indian cricketers.

RCB Carry 2026 Championship Momentum

Royal Challengers Bengaluru enter the new season after winning their second WPL championship in 2026.

RCB secured the title by defeating Delhi Capitals in the final of last year’s tournament.

The result will form part of the backdrop as the five franchises assess their squads before making their retention and auction choices.

The WPL has completed four editions since its launch in 2023 and has brought established stars and emerging players together in a high-profile domestic competition.

The tournament has also created opportunities for young Indian cricketers to gain experience alongside leading international names.

The announcement of the 2027 dates now moves the focus towards the September retention deadline.

Once the franchises finalise their retained players, attention will shift to Kochi for the October 28 auction before the fifth WPL season begins in January.
