Navroz, also called Nowruz, symbolises spring and the renewal of nature. The Persian words ‘Nav’ and ‘Roz’ mean ‘new’ and ‘day’, together signifying a new day.
While the festival traditionally coincides with the March equinox, Parsis in India observe it according to the Shahenshahi calendar, which places Navroz in July or August.
The festival traces its origins to Prophet Zarathustra, the founder of Zoroastrianism. Rooted in ancient Persia, the faith remains central to Parsi cultural heritage.
Parsis across India celebrate Navroz with devotion and enthusiasm.
The festival reflects renewal, unity and cultural continuity while highlighting the community’s lasting legacy in India.
