The Press Information Bureau’s (PIB) Fact Check unit has debunked an AI-generated deepfake video circulated by Pakistani propaganda accounts.
The fabricated clip falsely claims that Prime Minister Narendra Modi threatened action against students who joined the Jantar Mantar protest over examination issues, including the alleged NEET paper leak.
PIB Fact Check confirmed that the video is entirely fake and has been digitally manipulated.

The agency clarified that the altered clip misuses footage from the Prime Minister’s recent address on a parliamentary Bill aimed at strengthening the country’s examination system through stricter anti-paper leak measures.
The manipulated version adds fabricated audio to falsely portray PM Modi as warning students who participated in the protest.
PIB Fact Check stated that the Prime Minister made no such remarks in the original video.
The agency urged citizens to rely only on verified government platforms for authentic information. It also advised the public to report suspicious or misleading online content to prevent the spread of misinformation.
PIB Fact Check emphasised that malicious actors increasingly use artificial intelligence to create convincing deepfake videos that can mislead viewers and distort public discourse.
Separately, the agency noted that PM Modi had addressed the Jantar Mantar protests on another occasion, where he spoke about forgiving students who had abused him during the demonstrations.
That statement bears no connection to the manipulated clip now circulating online.
The fact-check serves as another reminder to verify sensitive claims through official sources before sharing them on social media.
