Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the efforts of women from Lakhiwala village in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor district for creating ‘Vidur Prerana Swadeshi Herbal Tea’ during the 136th episode of his monthly radio programme, Mann Ki Baat. He described the initiative as an inspiring example of women achieving self-reliance through determination and innovation.

The Prime Minister said tea is deeply connected with Indian traditions and serves as a symbol of bonding, conversations and shared experiences in everyday life.
PM Modi highlighted that the women associated with the Self-Help Group prepared the herbal tea using natural ingredients such as lemongrass, Giloy, Mulethi, Tulsi, raw turmeric, cinnamon, cardamom and fennel seeds. He said the distinctive taste and health benefits of the product have helped it gain recognition among consumers.
The herbal tea received positive responses during the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj and the International Food Festival in Delhi, where people from different countries also showed interest in the product.
The Prime Minister noted that the women began this venture with an initial investment of just ₹1 lakh. He said the brand has now expanded its presence and reached several prominent institutions across India.
PM Modi stated that the success of this initiative reflects how local skills, natural resources and women’s confidence can come together to create significant economic opportunities.
The Prime Minister appreciated the dedication of the women who transformed a small idea into a recognised herbal tea brand. He said their journey reflects the true essence of Atmanirbharta and highlights the potential of rural women entrepreneurs.
PM Modi also urged citizens to support locally made products and encourage such initiatives, adding that women-led businesses can play a crucial role in strengthening communities and contributing to India’s economic growth.
