Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late-night video message on social media led to a sharp rise in his Instagram following, with nearly one million new followers added overnight.

In the video, the Prime Minister combined his message on the paper leak issue with the government’s plans to strengthen the examination system. He said the administration stood ready to engage with those raising concerns while pursuing long-term reforms to improve transparency, accountability and combat corruption.
Referring to the impact of paper leaks on students and their families, PM Modi said the Union government had taken several steps over the past two-and-a-half months, resulting in the arrest and imprisonment of those responsible.
Prime Minister Modi also said the government had deployed all available resources to ensure examinations were conducted on schedule for nearly 22 lakh (2.2 million) students. He noted that the July 19 declaration of the results sparked celebrations among successful candidates across the country.
The Prime Minister said the government would continue strengthening the examination system. He added that he had personally worked on preparing proposals for fast-track courts and stricter punishment for those involved in examination malpractice.
