Teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi believes making an impact at the start of an international career plays a vital role in building confidence for the future.
The young opener said performing well in the early stages helps a player approach upcoming matches with greater belief and composure.
Sooryavanshi added that he felt completely in control during his innings and focused on playing to his strengths. He dedicated his maiden international fifty to his family, coaches and everyone who stood by him during both the highs and lows of his cricketing journey.
Explaining his celebration after reaching the milestone, Sooryavanshi revealed that the ‘A’ gesture he made with his hands was a tribute to his mother, Aarti. He also said the thumbs-up celebration was inspired by a conversation he had with Rinku Bhaiya.
The teenager further said he enjoys playing in Harare, where he has produced several memorable innings.
Sooryavanshi stressed that he does not take his performances at the venue for granted and remains focused on contributing to the team’s success whenever he gets the opportunity.
Fast bowler Mayank Yadav said his dream of representing India kept him motivated throughout a difficult 21-month injury lay-off. He admitted that the lengthy absence from competitive cricket was mentally challenging, particularly at such a young age, but his ambition to wear the Indian jersey gave him the determination to return stronger.
Mayank said the desire to perform for the country remained his biggest source of motivation during rehabilitation. He also praised captain Shreyas Iyer for showing complete faith in his bowlers, saying the captain’s confidence allowed him to execute his plans freely and play with greater assurance.
India and Zimbabwe will meet again in the second T20I on Saturday, with both players expected to play key roles for the visitors.
