Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the country needs the wisdom and experience of senior parliamentarians to ensure smooth functioning of Parliament and meaningful discussions as India navigates an increasingly uncertain global environment.
Addressing the media ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, the Prime Minister said the session comes at a crucial time when several regions across the world continue to face conflict and geopolitical instability. He stressed that constructive debates and collective resolve would help the country maintain its growth momentum.
Referring to the ongoing crisis in West Asia, PM Modi said the conflict has created significant challenges for countries like India, which depend on imports for energy, including petrol, diesel, LPG, fertilisers and chemicals.
Despite these global headwinds, he noted that India has maintained a growth rate of 7.7 per cent, making it the fastest-growing major economy in the world.
The Prime Minister said this performance reflects India’s inherent strength and the determination of its people to achieve new milestones. He added that the country’s continued economic progress demonstrates resilience despite external pressures.
PM Modi said Parliament has experienced members across party lines whose knowledge is vital for meaningful discussions and national progress. He urged MPs to ensure the smooth functioning of the House, saying India’s youth expect Parliament to deliver results.
The Prime Minister called for constructive, fact-based debates, adding that every voice should be heard and respected to strengthen democracy and drive the nation’s development.
