PIB Fact Check Debunks Fake Video Linking PM Modi To Beef Production Claim

The Press Information Bureau’s (PIB) Fact Check unit has debunked a viral video that falsely claimed Prime Minister Narendra Modi described India as the world’s second-largest beef producer during a recent event in Auckland, New Zealand.

The agency confirmed that the circulating clip had been manipulated to misrepresent the Prime Minister’s remarks.

According to PIB Fact Check, PM Modi never made the statement attributed to him in the viral video. Instead, during his address to the Indian community in Auckland, he highlighted India’s achievements across several sectors, including its position as the world’s largest milk producer, the second-largest wheat producer and the second-largest fish producer.

The misleading clip altered the original speech, replacing the reference to wheat production with a false claim about beef production.

PIB clarified that someone deliberately edited the video to spread misinformation and mislead viewers.

To counter the misinformation, PIB Fact Check shared the complete, unedited video of the Prime Minister’s speech along with the official transcript.

The agency urged citizens to verify viral content through authentic government platforms before accepting or sharing such claims.

The fact-checking unit reiterated that manipulated videos and doctored content continue to circulate widely on social media, making verification through official sources more important than ever. It advised people to rely only on verified government communication to avoid falling victim to misinformation campaigns.

PIB Fact Check continues to monitor and expose fabricated claims involving public figures and government announcements, reinforcing its commitment to ensuring accurate information reaches the public and discouraging the spread of misleading digital content.
