NIA Court Issues Non-Bailable Warrant Against Hafiz Saeed In Pahalgam Terror Case

A special court in Jammu has issued a non-bailable warrant against Hafiz Saeed in connection with the Pahalgam terror attack investigation.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) sought the warrant under Section 75 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), prompting the court to issue the order against the absconding accused.

The NIA’s supplementary chargesheet, which names Hafiz Saeed as the alleged mastermind behind the 22 April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack, led to the court’s latest action.

The NIA stated that Hafiz Saeed, a designated terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and founder of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), is operating from Pakistan and has deliberately evaded arrest by Indian authorities.

After reviewing the agency’s application and hearing submissions from the investigating officer, the court concluded that Hafiz Saeed’s arrest and custodial interrogation are indispensable for conducting a comprehensive and impartial investigation.

Accordingly, the court directed the issuance of an open-dated non-bailable warrant and instructed the Deputy Inspector General of the NIA in Jammu to execute it in accordance with the law.

With the warrant now issued, the court disposed of the NIA’s application and placed the matter on record.

The Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives, remains one of the most significant terrorism cases under investigation in Jammu and Kashmir.

The NIA had submitted its initial chargesheet in December 2025, while the supplementary chargesheet further detailed the alleged conspiracy and named Hafiz Saeed as the principal accused.
